Awita New York Studio invites artists to submit work for WHAT REMAINS, a group exhibition exploring what stays with us after time, change, movement, loss, growth, and transformation.
What remains after a place is left behind?
After a relationship changes?
After a memory begins to fade?
After we become someone new?
What do we keep, and what do we leave behind?
WHAT REMAINS explores memory, identity, traces, belonging, nostalgia, absence, presence, resilience, personal history, transformation, and the lasting marks of our experiences.
The exhibition is interested in what endures — physically, emotionally, culturally, or symbolically. It may be a memory carried for years, an object holding a story, a place that continues to live within us, a feeling left behind, or the trace of someone or something that is no longer present.
Artists are invited to interpret the theme freely through personal, emotional, social, cultural, environmental, abstract, or imagined perspectives.
Painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, drawing, illustration, mixed media, textiles, digital art, installation, and other contemporary practices are welcome.

INTERNATIONAL & OUT-OF-STATE ARTISTS
International and U.S.-based artists outside New York are welcome to apply.
For international artists, standard-size printing and framing options are available in New York, making it possible to participate without shipping framed artwork internationally.
No submission fee. Participation fees apply to accepted artists.
Accepted artists will receive participation details and an invoice upon acceptance.
Limited space. Accepted works are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. Early submissions are encouraged.
